I grow Bloomsdale Long in both spring and fall. My fall crop produces all winter in an unheated greenhouse and then continues on into the spring before bolting. I have mixed results with my spring crop as it always seems to get eaten by insects or killed by erratic weather. I do save and reuse my seed from year to year. I live in zone 6B (Merrimack Valley area in Mass).

This article might change that this year! We’ve tried 3 or 4 varieties and had zero success, but boy, we can sure grow lettuce! Happy gardening!
