I am reminded of my wealthy aunt who told our Mother when she couldn’t help but show off her love of food, canning enough vegetables for her family of 8 children Aunt Hilda said in an attempt to put down Mother’s efforts ” I am so happy I have enough money to buy my food already canned.”
What a sweet video! I would love to meet Classie, she seems like such a happy lady, plus she could teach me how to can!
Getting back to basics and growing your own food and canning is probably coming full circle. My grandparents did this and perhaps we should too.

Such a nice story. I’m growing a small garden in containers on my patio. When I was clearing out the summer tomatoes, a couple of weeks ago, I made a version of green tomato relish. The two quarts turned out delicious!
I really haven’t canned in about 30 years, but this small amount has brought such joy and fulfillment to my heart. Every time I eat a little of the relish on something I cook, it brings such pleasure and feeling of accomplishment.
I’ve just put in a fall garden, as I live in Southern CA and have mild winters. I hope it does better than my last years effort. I don’t get as much sun in the winter, due to a large house next door and the way the sun is in the winter. I’m new back to gardening too, after many years off. I can use all the encouragement I can get and you’re wonderful. Thank you for all you share with us.
