I have not used wood mulch in two years! My Garden plants are shoulder to shoulder: Purple Coneflowers, Obedient plants, and other plants interspersed. Just beautiful. Sometimes I have to thin out the hyper-growers…but all in all, when Fall arrives, I “leave the leaves” for the most part until mid-Spring, when I must thin them out so that the sunlight can reach the plants. I helps the insect world, too!

Love shopping for native plants and filling in the empty spaces for less future weeding. Not really sure I know what I’m doing. I buy what I love. Sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss. The misses, I try moving somewhere else. Appreciate reading your discussions and learning more.

Well, I love all your blogs🌸. I have all your books and look forward to all your posts. I also loveā€plants are the new mulch!!! That has been my motto for years. I garden on a hill and now that I’m older I can’t get up there to maintain It is still doing ok taking care of its self. Well I do hike up there in the spring to attack the weeds I see. People come to my open gardens and say, you don’t seemTo have weeds. My answer is…..plant close and let the shade the plants provides be your much. I have put tons of compost up there to help sustain it. I would love this book!! I also would love to come to your open garden days. Wish you were closer as I’m in IA. Thank you for all your gardening information. 🌸. Karen
