I did plant common milkweed from a starter plant last year and glad to see it thriving this year! The seeds I put out last year have not appeared.
Thank you for bringing to light the many varieties and its benefits to so many.

I also winter-sowed swamp milkweed, which I will plant out in the Fall.

Fortunately, I also have sporadic sightings of orange and pink milkweeds in our back fields, such serendipitous treasures I delight in, especially today, my 74th birthday. However, we did plant it in the Butterfly Garden down at the Friends of Decker’s Creek Outdoor Learning Park where I volunteer weekly. We have 4 mosaic pavers portraying the life cycle of the butterfly on the common Milkweed plant and use them for educational demonstrations. We try to encourage families and children to care for these pollinator plants through their love of butterflies. I would love Eric’s book, The Milkweed Lands” to give to this small dedicated watershed non-profit in WV to help with our educational programs. Thank you Margaret for having Eric on broadcasting the virtues of these neglected native plants.
